Abstract
CTRON-specification Extended OS programs for general file management, general program management, process management, and communication control (OSI and TCP/IP protocols) have been applied to a gateway system. This gateway system performs system interconnection and data conversion processing on a network linking various database systems. Features of the gateway are its facilitation of communication among a large number of different systems, its support of multiple protocols, and large-capacity file support for temporary storing of data. The Extended OS programs applied to the gateway were developed originally for another system and ported to this system. This paper reports on the applicability and portability of the CTRON-specification Extended OS to a gateway system. The analysis of portability examines the scale of modifications and the porting man-hours
