Abstract :
Scattering of various electrical characteristics of VRLA batteries was measured under controlled conditions, using batteries from three different manufacturers. Data on open-circuit voltage, capacity and float parameters (currents, voltages and impedances) were collected for new, fully charged batteries. The relevance of each parameter is discussed in regard to the industrial question of the often observed accelerated aging of VRLA batteries placed in series in UPS applications.
