Abstract :
Today´s telecommunications environment provides a host of opportunities and a fair degree of complexity for users. Wireless network options are becoming an increasingly popular adjunct to the traditional wireline networks. Service providers need to migrate from the current islands of wireless service to seamless offerings to users that support communications anytime, anywhere, in any form. Users need to be able to access services they subscribe to irrespective of their current terminal and/or network. To facilitate this, the network needs to support personal and terminal mobility as well as provide personal profile management to integrate all aspects of the user´s telecommunications needs. The paper focuses on the network traffic challenges that must be addressed to support personal mobility, terminal mobility and services flexibility and management. Database, switch and signaling issues are discussed
