Abstract
The paper handles the development of air conditioning in the information and communication technology. It describes the main innovations in this field, based on the displacement and free-cooling technologies. It shows how we may reach high energy savings also in temperate climate areas, as in Southern Italy. The results are based on the surveys carried out by Telecom Italy in its telephone exchanges.
