Abstract :
Soliton fiber ring lasers are attractive diode-pumped sources that can produce sub-picosecond pulses with tens of picojoule energies. With passive modelocking, solitons as short as 400 fs are generated at fundamental, round-trip, repetition rates of about 50 MHz with per-pulse energies of 10 pJ. Pulse initiation and stabilization is produced by nonlinear polarization rotation; steady-state characteristics are defined. And limited, by soliton effects
