Abstract
An approach to launch propagation-invariant beams based on momentum transforming metasurfaces is introduced. The launching metasurface is synthesized to transform the momentum of an incident plane-wave into that of a propagation-invariant beam. This synthesis approach, named the momentum transformation approach, enables launching beams with arbitrary momentum configuration. An example illustrating this approach is presented, where an incident plane-wave is converted into a Bessel beam.
