Abstract
In this paper a new reconfigurable dynamic antenna with radiation pattern in the azimuth plane is presented. The antenna is composed of a central radiation source surrounded by an active frequency selective surface in a nonagon shape. The surrounding nonagon structure is constructed of active frequency selective surface unit cells with diodes. The electromagnetic wave propagation direction will be controlled by switching the diodes. The directional beam of the antenna could cover the entire 360° angle with a step of 40°.
