  • Abstract
    We discuss the design and implementation of a distributed, real-time visualization-based disaster recovery tool. In this paper, we focus on metrics used in our system. We discuss how multiple sources of information are fused and visualized featuring the capture and visualization of corresponding uncertainty metrics. We also discuss metrics related to the communication module of our disaster recovery tool. The distributed infrastructure of our system will help to support much needed planning as well as provide a response and command tool for disaster events. The goal is to provide an infrastructure that responds predictably to scale, allows data propagation without disruption or delay, and maintains records of the current situation for report generation and at the same time adheres to guidelines mandated by pre-established structures of command. We have implemented two versions of the communications module of our infrastructure, a mobile agent implementation and a subscription based implementation. Performance metrics will be shown for comparison.
