Abstract :
High efficiency uni-directional log-periodic antenna with low-profile cavity-backing is presented. The proposed concept offers a novel approach for transforming a broadband bi-directional aperture to a uni-directional antenna. To eliminate lossy materials inside the cavity, a parasitic cross bow-tie slot with controlled coupling and dissipation is introduced at the bottom of the cavity. The numerical and experimental results show VSWR <; 3:1, gain > 1.5dBi and average efficiency of 82% from 0.55GHz to 6GHz.
