Abstract :
Summary form only given. This work overviews the use of linear pre-coding in space-time wireless communications. It first motivates the use of linear pre-coding as a way of exploiting available (possibly partial) channel state information at the transmitter to improve system performance. It then overviews different approaches to pre-coding, various performance criteria (capacity, BER, etc.) and different approaches to pre-coding and analytical techniques to evaluate their performance. The paper finally offers examples of performance improvements in a few cases.
