Abstract :
In this paper, a wideband and low-profile spiral antenna with unidirectional radiation pattern is proposed. A very thin Meta-material (MTM) absorber is used in place of a conventional absorber on top of a ground plane to achieve unidirectional radiation. The MTM absorber is made of circular patches of various sizes on a magnetic substrate. Despite a short distance between the spiral and the ground plane, good antenna characteristics such as reflection coefficient, polarization and gain have been achieved.
