Abstract :
This work considers the problem of plant-wide fault-tolerant control. We develop a safe-parking framework to handle actuator faults that preclude nominal unit operation. We consider the cases where the effect of the actuator fault can be contained to the faulty unit, as well as where appropriate action needs to be taken in downstream units to preserve nominal plant operation. The implementation of the safeparking framework is illustrated using a multi-unit chemical reactor system.
