Abstract
To improve quality of service of the electrical energy distribution and to exploit distributed energy resources (e.g. distributed generation) real-time monitoring of the power grid should be extended to include secondary substations, medium voltage and low voltage grids, up to end-users, gathering and processing all these data where they are really needed. The paper describes the Integrated Distribution Network Monitoring use case defined by the 7th Framework Program European Project INTEGRIS and its distributed and hierarchical ICT architecture designed to efficiently fulfill both communication and application requirements foreseen for the Smart Grid.
