Abstract
In this study the effect of shed diameter and position on the aging performance of silicone rubber test samples in salt-fog has been studied. Tests have been conducted at 0.35 kV/cm electric field and 2500 μS/cm conductivity. The low frequency components of leakage current, equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD) and surface damage are used to evaluate the performance of the different designs. The test results have shown that both the shed diameter and position influence the aging performance of silicone rubber insulators.
