Abstract
As DWDM system deployment increases in long haul networks, more DWDM components will be required at lower cost, higher channel count, and narrower channel spacing. A number of issues need to be resolved to boost the large scale manufacturing of planar DWDM components and encourage the development of more complex planar devices, which will eventually include switches and hybrid integration of lasers and detectors
