Abstract
Distributed partial discharge (PD) measuring techniques offer a new insight into failure evolution assessment considering that it is possible to perform several measurements in power equipment, evaluating on each measurement only a small part of the whole equipment while in normal operation. A section describing calibration of the measuring system provides a way to maintain reproducibility of measurements even with equipment in service. Display of PD activity in two formats, the traditional N-Q-Φ PD pattern and the PD wave shape in real time, allows compatibility with Electra Pub. I I expertise and at the same time it offers a new field of information related to PD physics.
