Abstract
Rapid change in the power generation industry requires a re-appraisal of the roles of the power producers and their main contractors. The contractors must recognise the competitive pressure on clients, and mobilise their total capability to achieve a profitable return from the capital assets employed during a time of unprecedented change. The generators have available to them, through their contractors, considerable potential to extend the economic life of existing plant. Forging new relationships to utilise this potential is a challenge to both power producer and contractor alike
