Abstract
The paper proposes a three-frequency principal for developing high-performance FMCW radar systems. In our example, a 94 GHz radar sensor has been studied and demonstrated for high-precision position measurement applications such as automotive radars. This new scheme is based on an FSK CW radar framework. Two unambiguous ranges make the system choose the right range measurement. The proposed technique presents several advantages over conventional FMCW sensors. It is more accurate than FSK radar. It gives a greater maximum unambiguous range. Low cost can also be expected. The operating principle, experimental prototype, and test results are described.
