Abstract
The TVA probe was first developed in North America for use in stator windings to establish deterioration of stator insulation due to void or slot discharges. The presence of voids particularly at the stack or corona discharge occurring in modern insulation systems is of major concern, given the requirements of end users for reliable systems. Since its introduction in the UK it has been developed into a tool for acceptance tests of 11 kV motor coils and generator bars
