Abstract :
In wideband spectrum sensing, multiband joint detection, which jointly detects the signal energy over multiple frequency bands, is efficient in improving the dynamic spectrum utilization and reducing interference to the primary users. In this paper, we investigate the effect of sensing errors due to the time offset between the sensing and decision making on the multiband joint detection technique. By considering the primary user´s spectrum usage model, we formulate the optimization problem for the multiband joint detection for the non-cooperative and hard decision cooperative schemes. Numerical results show that sensing errors lead to performance degradation in terms of the aggregate opportunistic throughput and false alarm probability. However, cooperative sensing is effective in improving the performance of the multiband detection technique in the presence of sensing errors.
