Abstract
In this work, several soil samples were collected from different locations in the campus of China Three Gorges University. Srains possessing cellulose degrading activities were screened out by screening medium. CMC-Na was used as only source of carbon. The result showed that the strains isolated from soil covered with rotten bamboo can degrade cellulose well. A bacterial strain expressing cellulose degrading activity was discovered and isolated.
