Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a novel digital micromirror device (DMD)-based 2×2 fiber-optic switch array system. The Texas Instrument 2D DMD has half a million micromirrors; each micromirror is 16 μm×16 μm and pixel pitch is 17 μm. It has two states of operation (+10° and -10°) with a 15 μs switching speed and ~62% optical efficiency. Several micromirrors called a macro-pixel can be used to control an optical beam that travels to the +10° or 10° path
