Abstract :
We have proposed the use of the photoabsorption induced disordering (PAID) process for post-fabrication adjustment of lasing wavelength, and demonstrated 0.4 nm trimming in a 1.55 μm ridge waveguide DFB laser. This technique relies only on the preferential absorption of the laser beam energy in quantum well active regions, thus being applicable to any type of waveguide structures
