Abstract :
The electrical strengths of the dielectrics used in extruded power cables and accessories are far higher than the stresses these devices encounter in their life span. Failures of these devices are associated with imperfections and foreign substances introduced during manufacturing processes, shipping, installation and also during the operation of these components (aging). In this paper, the relationship between such imperfections or aging processes and PD is discussed.
