Abstract :
An improved coupled ultra-wideband (UWB) dual-polarized antenna array with the periodically corrugated ground is presented. Toroidal elements are linked by interdigital capacitors, which are introduced to utilize the mutual coupling between elements and enlarge the array bandwidth. Extra dielectric layer is also placed over the capacitive-coupled array to improve the impedance stability. Besides, the corrugated ground is introduced to depress the surface waves, thus improve the radiation patterns and get a wider band. Simulation results show that the improved antenna array exhibits a 5:1 bandwidth, and gets a 1.8dB enhancement of the gain in the lower frequency.
