Abstract
From 4 week to 6 week, 320 Hailan layers were assigned at random to groups of 5 individuals and distributed among 64 pens. They were kept in pens with four different light intensity (5lux, 10lux, 15lux, 20lux). We observe the feather pecking, feeding groveling, preening, foraging, drinking, standing and walking. We find that light intensity had significant effects on rate of feather pecking. With the light intensity increasing, the occurrence of feather pecking, preening, foraging, drinking, standing and walking increased, the occurrence of feeding and groveling decreased.
