Abstract
Explores a new generation of wireless data LAN hardware that is robust, reliable, fast, non-directional, light tolerant, and that has triple the range of “yesterday´s” infrared. Advanced infrared (AIR) delivers what airlines and passengers expect from wireless devices and systems. Capabilities are on par with short-range wireless RF, but without the inherent risks of radio waves. Being light waves, infrared is totally safe and benign. This has already been validated by previous infrared programs within commercial aviation
