Abstract :
The in situ and continuous water supplies monitoring for human use it is an important topic around the world for caring consumer´s health because the water could be contaminated from natural environment. To review this, in this paper are shown the results of a study at “University: Instituto Tecnológico de Chihuahua” in which the quality of thirteen points of waters sources, used for around 5000 users, were analyzed using commercial equipment. The response of ion selective electrode was evaluated with data acquisition system and the smart sensor architecture to measure Fluride concentration it was defined and the compensation method was selected. Also the response time of smart sensor was evaluated and compared with the setting time. Using standard reference solutions of Fluoride was demonstrated that the smart sensor designed has better performance compared with commercial equipment in two different ranges from 1 to 50 ppm and from 1 to 200 ppm. This design procedure can be applied to design smart sensors to measure other water parameters with ion selective electrodes and to do in situ and continuous monitoring in public water supplies.
