Abstract :
The flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser has been used effectively for the treatment of vascular lesions at all ages. We now have extensive experience in treating children with the pulsed dye laser at 585 nanometers, 450 microsecond pulse duration. This has led to an increased understanding of laser effects on vascular malformations and hemangiomas. The utility of the laser is dependent on the natural biology of the vascular lesion. As the biology of these lesions are not static, frequency and timing of treatments, as well as the age of the patient at initiation of treatment are important variables in laser effectiveness
