Abstract :
This paper presents a detailed modeling of TCP offload in the context of SPECweb99 web-server benchmark in order to assess the impact of offload on the overall server performance. A number of possibilities with respect to offload are considered, including the offload location, data/connection offload and direct/iSCSI based storage. The results indicate that a carefully designed offload engine coupled with a lean host interface can more than double the SPECweb99 performance.
