Abstract
The energy of microwave radiation is known to be efficiently absorbed by water. Conventional mechanism of this phenomenon regards the absorption as a consequence of excitation of conformational and rotational degrees of freedom of molecules of water as well as excitation of its intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Thus, the absorption of electromagnetic radiation causes the temperature increasing. We report about studying the absorption of water at the frequencies 2.5 GHz and 10 GHz. When using the chemiluminiscent methods we established that there was a non-thermal mechanism of water dissociation on the hydrogen and hydroxile radicals.
