Abstract :
In embedded applications there are many constraints. These include: limited non-volatile memory; limited time; limited code space. The paper presents a discussion of a data compression technique designed to reduce the number of bytes required to store large integer values in non-volatile memory with little loss of precision. The method uses small code size functions that are very efficient, since data manipulation is done with bit shifts. Code examples are written in C
