Abstract :
A durene-degrading strain (J4) was isolated. The paper researched the decomposition of durene through J4. The strain can grow in the medium containing durene and experiences a longer stationary phase of growth than with out durene. The analysis of durene in different time showed J4 can decompose durene, which can let the bacterium used in the disposition of organic waste water containing durene. Based on morphological, phyxiological and biochemical characteristics, J4 was identified as Bacillus Cohn.
