Abstract :
In this paper, a time-efficient method for removing the 60 Hz powerline interference from surface EMG signal is presented. The proposed method utilizes non-zero initial conditions and a time-varying pole radius to reduce the transient response of the IIR notch filter used in the interference suppression process. Simulations verifying the effectiveness of the proposed IIR notch filter are presented and compared to the traditional time-invariant filter with zero initial conditions.
