Abstract
This paper presents the method of creating the general models of base-station antennas which are suitable for the common full-wave electromagnetic (EM) field solvers. For those EM simulators based on high frequency or asymptotic methods, the antenna models can simply be imported by the manufacturer data file. However, it is not so common in most of the full-wave simulators, and we have to create the model of antenna from the basic elements. In this paper, the base-station antennas for mobile communication are classified into 3 types according to the gain; and they were modeled by X-polarized dipole pairs with parallel front metal strips. From the simulation result, the errors in gain and beamwidths between the models and manufacturer datasheets are less than 3% and 5° respectively and thus demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed models.
