Abstract :
This paper describes an acousto-optical spectrometer based on a light modulator-deflector that does not use the usual tangent interaction, but a two-band interaction that increases the bandwidth by a factor of (2)1/2 with 3 dB at the center and edges of the frequency bandwidth. The greater bandwidth makes a better bandwidth-frequency resolution ratio possible, so therefore the system is equally well suited for the resolution of both narrow and wide spectral lines studied in radio astronomy
