  • Abstract
After three decades of low level activity, the field of thermoelectrics has witnessed a dramatic revival because of the emergence on new promising materials, new strategies for increasing the dimensionless thermoelectric figure of merit ZT, and the potential use of quantum well and quantum wire structures to enhance ZT. We emphasize here the advantages of using low dimensional structures for thermoelectric applications. Career opportunities for young people in thermoelectrics research are discussed in this context
