  • Abstract
In most colleges or universities scheduling a meeting with a lecturer is far more frustrating than it really needs to be which is seen by experience. He´s either unavailable due to class obligations or is sometimes unknowingly booked for that time. This can result in a lot of complaints and negative feedback on the lecturer´s evaluation form and could in some cases lead to negative stereotyping. It is true that some lecturers have assistants but there are also many without especially in light of the global recession which many schools cutting back on administrative costs. Sometimes even though the lecturer has an assistantaide he might not have read the email or sometimes students make appointments over the phone and its written down somewhere and misplaced. The issue of double or over booking can lead to a lot of confusion when a lecturer works in multiple capacities at the university or across several universities especially if bookings are not coordinated carefully. It gets even more complicated when students make appointments with lecturers but also the head of school to organize meeting with otter lecturers. In the past, considerable amount of work have been done in using Agents in computer science in the likes of m-commerce, e-commerce, and telemedicine to name a few. There has been a lot of work done in agent scheduling for meeting creation and management and so taking this aspect into consideration, we arrived at our proposition to develop an intelligent agent which would negotiate and collaborate with the agent of academic staff for an appropriate appointment time for the student. The solution would facilitate priority level creation which would then mean that the appointment can factor in the priority level of the students, level of appointment, and date for exam. The implementation would be carried out using JADE-LEAP agent development kit on Android 2.2 handset.
