Title :
Burst-mode compatible receivers for high speed digital optical communications
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
Burst-mode compatible and burst/packet compatible receivers can not only eliminate complex supporting schemes needed for conventional optical transmission systems, but also will expand the capabilities of optical communications. This paper describes burst mode compatible preamplifiers with an auto-threshold tracking level control fabricated using 12 GHz fT Si bipolar technology (BEST-I: Bipolar Enhanced Self-Aligned Technology). The receivers have been used in several applications including high speed optical switching and network systems and digital video transmission
