Abstract
This paper studies the performance of vector-sensor arrays (VSAs) over multipath environments. First, a multipath model that defines the reflection coefficient metric of a smooth surfaces is derived within the VSA model. For a smooth, the specularly reflected signal can be totally coherent with the direct signal and this affects the performance of the VSA for source localization. Next, a conventional minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) estimator is employed for direction of arrival estimation. Finally, simulation is used to evaluate the performance of the MVDR based VSA over a specific multipath environment.
