Abstract
Grid technology has been developed rapidly in recent years. To gain reliable quality of service, grid network service concept is introduced to evaluate network performance. It is the first and important step for Grid users to transparently locate the resources to be used. The paper discusses the topology discovery service in grid network. In this paper, we present a novel algorithm (SBI) for discovering Grid resource based on SNMP/BGP4 protocols and subnet address guessing mechanism in heterogeneous grid environment. The paper describes the SBI in details. We have implemented the algorithm presented in this paper. The software using SBI has been applied on the China Education & Research Network (CERNET) and the IPv6-based next generation of CERNET (CERNET2) and gained excellent efficiency and effectiveness.
