  • Abstract
    This paper describes the continuous development of a digital map system presented in previous ISCE conferences. The latest version incorporates a number of new features that improve upon the performance of the previous systems. The most significant change is the use of the SVG format to replace the customised XML format used for the display of the digital maps. New techniques are employed in the encoding of the map to further enhance the flexibility of the system. A new client program based on Java´s Batik toolkit is also developed to take full advantages of the SVG features in rendering the digital map for display
