Abstract
A new dissipative method to design observers for a large class of nonlinear systems has been introduced recently by the author. It generalizes and includes several well-known observer design methods in the literature. In this paper it is shown that these observers can be used in the global stabilization of nonlinear systems with output feedback control. This is achieved under very weak assumptions on the nonlinear plant. In particular no growth restrictions on its nonlinearities are imposed. Since non globally Lipschitz nonlinearities can lead to destabilization, a modification of the observer is introduced so that the convergence velocity of the observer is improved to avoid the destabilization effect of the observer on the plant. This result generalizes most previous separation results
