Abstract
This paper proposes a subchannel grouping scheme for MIMO-OFDM systems that transmit signals over frequency-selective fading channel. Based on the subchannel grouping, we propose a coding strategy that uses pair space-time trellis encoders to perform the coding across the antenna and time (frequency), and employs the linear constellation precoding to collect additional multipath diversity. The proposed scheme is capable of obtaining the maximum achievable diversity and coding gains without sacrificing bandwidth efficiency. Decoding can be simultaneously achieved by Viterbi algorithm in one time. The performance improvement is confirmed by simulation and compared with the conventional space-frequency codes H Bolcskei et al. (2000).
