Abstract
Virtual characters are important components in modern computer games; intelligent virtual character is a new research field that integrates artificial life and computer animation together. A believable virtual character should not merely have behavior, emotion, but abundant personality even more. Personality is an important characteristic for virtual character, the current researches on computer personality model are summarized, and the formal definitions for personality and other mental variables are presented in set theory. Inner drive variable and outer stimuli variable are introduced to calculate whether a basic emotion is executed, the quantitative relations among personality, emotion and plan are proposed. The result shows that a virtual character with different personality variables may express different emotion or behavior.
