Abstract :
Summary form only given. The existence of topological solitons as the stable excitations in (CH)/sub x/ charge-spin separation and the phenomena of fractional charge and fractional statistics have stimulated the discovery of related effects in other areas of research. These areas include superconductors, superfluid /sup 3/He, and the fractional quantum Hall effect. We will discuss the common physical origin of these effects in terms of vacuum flow of charge without spin, in which charge transport takes place in an undoped insulator without electronic excitations across the energy gap. Composite particle superconductivity in which two fermions plus a boson condense rather than two fermions condensation as in conventional pairing will be discussed.
