Abstract
In this paper, a novel acquisition approach termed differential detection acquisition (DDA) is proposed for time-hopping ultra-wideband (TH-UWB) signals. The approach is different from traditional acquisition approaches for it succeeds in transferring acquisition of whole TH sequence to detection of arriving times of several pulses. The mean acquisition time for this approach is not limited by the length of PN sequence and it can obtain the same acquisition probability performance as sliding correlation acquisition approach. Computer simulation results are presented to confirm the theoretical analysis.
