Abstract :
Multicarrier Modulation has attracted a lot of attention in the modern communication world to satisfy the need for higher bit rate. The most popular MCM technique, OFDM has low efficiency due to the insertion of cyclic prefix and the use of IFFT in OFDM leads to poor stopband behaviour for OFDM prototype filter which leads to spectral leakage among the subchannels. Due to the disadvantages of OFDM, Filter Bank based MultiCarrier system with Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation has been proposed. The prototype filter for FBMC-OQAM system is designed using frequency sampling method of filter design from which the whole filterbank is formed by exponential modulation. For every multicarrier system, high PAPR is the main issue. Simple PAPR reduction methods like clipping, A-law comapnding, mu-law companding etc are carried out in the FBMC-OQAM system and the system performance is evaluated using CCDF plot and BER plot. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better PAPR reduction performance than the existing methods along with a good BER performance.
