Abstract :
Different LDPE/nanosilica assemblies were imaged in details at nanoscale and some of their dielectric properties were studied. A sol-gel silica coating on polyethylene (PE), very well ordered, resulted into a slight decrease of the real permittivity of the assembly. This is believed to be the result of the interplay of local morphology change and non-uniformities of the field at the interface PE/nanosilica. The nanosilica coating when sandwiched between PE plates affected the measured space charge profiles.
