Abstract :
A detailed knowledge of the characteristics of the time-variant and frequency-selective radio channel is fundamental to the development of new digital mobile and portable communication systems in the UHF-VHF band. Channel models have been derived from wideband propagation measurements of the mobile and portable radio channel. These models, combined with stored channel data, can be used in simulations which allow for the evaluation of system performance limits as a function of the propagation conditions. In this light a versatile procedure for the simulation of a time-variant multipath channel, applicable to a “local area”, is presented in this paper. This simulation technique uses the channel scattering function in order to generate sequences of impulse response profiles for points adjacent in space
